Moderate Cardio Movement and Strength Workout Class

Description: A moderate-impact workout for Parkinson’s disease. Light cardio movements that improve balance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle strength, incorporating exercises like marching, side steps, arm circles, leg swings,  prioritizing smooth transitions and controlled movements to minimize the risk of falls while maximizing overall mobility and function.

Key elements of the workout:

  1. Warm-up: Light cardio like marching, arm circles, leg swings to prepare muscles and joints.
  2. Balance exercises: Tai chi stances, standing on one leg with support, heel-to-toe walking, shifting weight between feet.
  3. Flexibility exercises: Gentle stretches for hamstrings, calves, shoulders, neck, holding each stretch for a few breaths.
  4. Strength training: Light resistance bands, hand weights for arm lifts, seated leg exercises, isometric muscle contractions.
  5. Coordination exercises: Arm and leg movements in coordinated patterns, reaching motions, stepping side to side.
  6. Cool-down: Deep breathing, gentle stretches, seated relaxation.

Equipment needed: Chair, light weights, resistance band and small ball.

About the Instructor: I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Class instructor. I am certified in Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Spinning, Pedal for Parkinsons, Stretch, Senior Fitness, Balance Training, Functional movement, TRX, Strength and Conditioning, Delay the Disease, Power Moves, Yoga for Parkinsons. I studied dance at local dance studios and instructed dance for over 15 years. I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years.  I have always been passionate about fitness.  My goal is helping to improve my clients/students quality of life. I enjoy hiking, yoga, pilates, biking, hanging out with friends & my pup Tedi.
