Ride with purpose this February and support PFWPA!
Join us during the month of February as we Pedal Beyond Parkinson’s and help improve the quality of life for those with Parkinson’s disease. Studies have shown cycling can improve Parkinson’s symptoms. We encourage everyone (with or without Parkinson’s) to ride, raise money, and feel those post-ride endorphins as we pedal beyond expectations, limitations, and the unknowns of this disease.
Why cycling: Studies have shown if you ride for 1 hour: a 10 minute warm up at 60 RPMs, followed by 40 minutes at 80 RPMs, and a 10 minute cool down at 60 RPMs. Participants riding 3 days a week over 8 weeks have shown improvement in their Parkinson’s related symptoms by as much as 35%.
Where to cycle: You can ride on an existing bike you already have access to OR you can check out the studios we are partnering with all over the Pittsburgh area and use one of their bikes or take their cycling classes.
