Many people find themselves overwhelmed upon a diagnosis of Parkinson disease. Finding accurate, appropriate and pertinent information regarding the disease, its management, support services and resources often present a challenge for those newly diagnosed and their families. The purpose of the Parkinson Primer is to help those newly diagnosed with PD and their families to:

  • better cope with the traumatic news
  • understand the disease more fully
  • learn about therapeutic interventions
  • learn and begin implementing self-care strategies
  • introduce participants to regional resources

The Parkinson Primer is a small-group seminar course and discussion. The program targets newly diagnosed individuals, their families and anyone desiring a greater understanding of Parkinson disease in order to better manage the current and future symptoms that may arise.

The program is free and includes lunch. Space is limited because of the small group format and registration is required.
